Building Homes, Building Dreams, Building For a Brighter Tomorrow

When I joined Celanese in 2005, never did I expect to learn, of all things, how to build a house. Eight years and eight homes later, and I can truly say that volunteering has been one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life. It’s not every day that you can have a significant part of making someone else’s life-long dream come true.

Celanese and Habitat for Humanity have been working together to improve the lives of families since 2005. During our partnership, Celanese has donated over $325,000 and 7,500 volunteer hours. The 4 P’s of global leadership

I took my first global management job seven years ago. I had grown up in the Midwest and graduated from a Big Ten university. With the exception of living in Japan right out of college, my work experience was almost exclusively with North American companies. I had a lot to learn fast.

Happily, the last seven years have been the best of my career in part because of our global operating environment. I can’t imagine working any other way. Two Long Nights and Many Exciting Experiences

I am currently a work/study BA student and now in my second work phase for Celanese. The “two long nights,” in other words, the “Long Night of Industry” and the “Night of Science” were a very special part of it.

It all started on June 18 – first with the “Long Night of Industry.” At this event, industrial facilities open their doors to the public for one evening to present themselves to interested visitors.

Our tour included a visit to the Ticona Technical Center and the new POM plant. In addition to the guided plant tour, a tour of the Hoechst Industrial Park was also offered in celebration of 150 years of operations at the Hoechst Industrial Park.

The size alone of the Ticona plant impressed all…
