Enhancing A Little Part of This World

Thank you for the opportunity to participate in the 2016 Celanese International Impact Program (CIIP). It was a rewarding and humbling experience. My time in India allowed me to learn about another culture while giving some of my education and experience to help enhance a little part of their world. I was partnered with Susan Day and we were tasked with not only teaching conversational English to a group of women in a sewing class, but to also elevate their self-esteem and confidence.

Our team faced several challenges including a language barrier and a change in project expectations. We charged through and if we made half as much of an impact on the ladies’ lives as they did ours, then we made a great contribution.

Another aspect of the experience was the great friendships formed with other Celanese employees. Once again I have confirmed the quality of Celanese employees. My colleagues were genuinely some of the smartest, most caring and real people that I have had the pleasure to know.
