Celanese Celebrates 10 Years in the Heart of Budapest

It has been 10 years! Can you believe it? A decade ago, Celanese took the ambitious step to establish a shared services center in the heart of Budapest. A decade ago, a success story started.

September 7, 2017 marks the 10th anniversary of the Budapest Business Service Center (BBSC). What began with a handful of people in Finance, today has become a well-rounded solution provider for Celanese with more than 350 outstanding, talented employees. We could not have been successful on this journey without all our engaged and talented colleagues. Many of them have been with us since the beginning; and we asked them to share their thoughts with on what these 10 years at BBSC have meant for them.

It has been an amazing time! Having built up BBSC together from the first days, it is rewarding to experience how our site keeps growing. Every day is a new learning opportunity, a new challenge and endless fun! It is an honor to be one of the first employees, and I am looking forward to seeing how our exciting journey in Budapest continues.

The most important thing that Celanese has given me in the last 10 years, which strongly differentiates it from my previous workplaces, is how I relate to other people, especially my colleagues. The people I work with, or work for, all play an important part in my life and I’m extremely lucky to call a couple of them real friends. When it comes to difficult business decisions, situations or a hard day, my friends are there for me. I truly appreciate all these people, and I’m sure that with their support, the individual and the company can achieve great success!

A few weeks after my university graduation, I received a recruiter’s call from Celanese. Two weeks later I received the first job offer of my life. I was extremely excited and couldn’t wait for September, when it all started. Ten years have passed like the blink of an eye. I got a great job, made friends, acquired new skills and learned a lot. Our group became a team within a short time – I’m still in touch with almost all of them. We always made sure we have fun … no matter what.

Time goes by so fast. I was so excited to join the founding team of about 40 people. I remember the office environment was still under construction when we started. Having several positions at BBSC enabled me to challenge myself in different fields (finance, project world, facilities) and to make future career decisions based on the valuable cross-functional experience I’ve received. I’ve always enjoyed business travel to Germany and the U.S., and have learned about different countries and their cultures. I have been lucky enough to work closely with some of the greatest managing directors and management teams as well.

Join us in congratulating the Celanese Budapest Business Service Center on their 10th anniversary and leave a comment to wish us lots of successes and never-ending enthusiasm for the future!

10 years and six months ago I arrived in Budapest with a mandate and a dream to have a workforce that was laser focused on the tasks at hand while enjoying themselves. I hired exceptionally well, had great support from colleagues in Dallas and Germany and after four years I left Hungary firmly convinced that what we built was built to last. Congratulations to all of you especially those there with me from the very beginning. I’m a proud Mike Bacsi.
