Keep Up The Momentum – Creating Change And Building Relationships

Every September Celanese is inspired by the collective efforts of our employees who make a difference during Global Impact Month. This year 36 sites participated, including 2,495 employees, who organized 3,503 projects and logged 32,102 volunteer hours. That brings our year to date total to 117,397 hours! Thanks to everyone who participated! It’s great to see our people in the community demonstrating our company value of Improving the World.

On our social media channels, Global Impact Month is where you saw how we’re making an impact and building relationships. Throughout the month, charities were talking about us on their own social media channels, introducing us to their followers and sharing their appreciation for our employees, family and friends who are giving back. Employees shared photos with us about what their teams were doing and how they’re connecting and deepening their internal relationships.

Let’s keep up the momentum and commit to reaching out to our community partners again to learn how we can help them in the coming months. With the holidays approaching, the need is always greater. Global Impact Month is a great stepping stone into learning about regular volunteering opportunities. We’re committed to making the world a better place to live. Will you as leaders, teams and individuals seek out ways you can continue to make a difference? Our volunteer policy allows employees to arrange with their manager to take an additional eight hours of service, beyond corporate initiatives like Global Impact Month, to volunteer with the charity of their choice.

Every year our heart for volunteerism gets bigger and your efforts this year have been phenomenal! With a 15 percent increase in employee participation from 2016, we’re well on our way to achieving our company goal of 150,000 volunteer hours. A special thanks to our new employees for participating for the first time: Lebanon, Silao, Campo Bom, Forli, Ferrara, Castel Coffredo, Polymia, Utzenfeld, Wehr and Suzhou sites. We’re so proud of you!

Last week I got my letter from Big Brothers Big Sisters Lone Star that I’ve been accepted into their program for our Dallas office’s site-based program. I’m looking forward to getting to know my “little” and investing in the next generation in a new way. What upcoming volunteer projects are you most excited about being a part of? That’s awesome Kassie! Thanks for sharing your excitement – these sound like great projects. I always love seeing Piner Elementary & ESNKY on our social feeds sharing about the good work happening at Florence. Some good partnerships have formed.
